Farrimond's path to TUVB
Ashley Farrimond grew up in Garden Ridge, TX where she attended Canyon High School. Her love for volleyball began in 4th grade when she played for the first time. She began as a middle hitter and eventually transitioned into the setter position, where she remained throughout her volleyball career. Farrimond involved herself in high school volleyball as well as club volleyball. She described her experience in club volleyball as, "transformative" for her volleyball career because she was exposed to specialized coaching and a variety of styles of play. Club sports are crucial for the development of players because it gives them the chance to play year-round to gain more skills and competitive game experience. Farrimond's transition to college volleyball was complicated after tearing her ACL a month prior to her senior season of high school. The injury changed the course of her volleyball career and made her realize that volleyball was no longer her priority, she became interested in a academically strong, DIII school. Once Farrimond became aware of Trinity University's heavy academic prestige and successful volleyball program, she found the perfect fit.
